I am now in the habit of writing the date I open up a spice on the bottle or lid. It tends to keep me "honest" and I toss spices more frequently now. Thanks for showing me the white box trick! The lighting in my house is dark as well - we have solar screens on our windows because it gets so hot here in the summer - which is great, except my house sometimes feels like a cave. Too funny!
